Devastating Budget Bill Passed in House: We Must Keep Fighting
May 22, 2025
🚨 URGENT: TAKE ACTION NOW! 🚨
Dear Community Members,
We’re reaching out with urgent news and a heartfelt call to action.
Early this morning, the House of Representatives passed a devastating budget reconciliation package by a razor-thin vote of 215–214. Every Democrat opposed it, but now, the fight moves to the Senate.
What’s at stake:
$800 billion in cuts to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act
15 million people could lose coverage
Higher costs for millions more
Potential hospital closures and reduced access to care for countless people in need
All to fund tax breaks for big corporations
These are the largest proposed healthcare cuts in American history.
The legislation includes nearly $700 billion in cuts to Medicaid, 100 Billion to ACA, and more than $500 billion in triggered cuts to Medicare over the next decade, dwarfing any past reductions to these vital programs. If enacted, it would result in the most significant rollback of healthcare protections ever seen, threatening coverage, increasing costs, and straining hospitals and providers nationwide.
We know how frightening and unjust this feels, but this is not the end. The Senate is up next, and we must keep going.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO CALL, WRITE, AND SHOW UP.
Your voice matters. Your story matters. The future of our care depends on it.
We will continue to keep you informed with updates and tools for action, but today, we urge you to take a moment to contact your Senators and demand they vote NO on this harmful bill.
With strength and solidarity,
